San Diego Padres vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The AL Central second-place Cleveland Guardians head to California to take on the NL West fourth-placed San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. The Guardians are coming off an impressive three game series against the defending champion Astros. Cleveland would win the first and third games, with the most recent ending in a 5-0 shutout victory. The visitors have now won four of their last five as they attempt to get back to .500. Luckily for them, the AL Central is one of the weakest divisions in the MLB this season. This means that Cleveland’s 31 wins and 34 losses has them only trailing the first-place Twins by 1.5 games. The Guardians will send out rookie Tanner Bibee to the mound for this one. The 24-year-old righty has done well in his first season, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.05 ERA. Bibee’s last start was a five-inning, one earned run display in a 5-2 win against the Red Sox.
The Padres continue to try to close the gap on the first-place Diamondbacks who they now trail by 9.5 games. San Diego is coming off a 5-4 loss to the Rockies in the final game of a three-game series after winning the first two. The loss snapped a three game winning streak for the Pads who now return to Petco Park looking to improve that home record. The hosts have only won 15 of their 38 games at home this season and split their last six outings at this venue 3-3. Taking the mound for San Diego is Joe Musgrove who is 3-2 on the year with a 4.35 ERA. Musgrove is coming off an impressive showing in his last start, going five innings and allowing only one earned run. He also managed to rack up eight strikeouts which is his highest total of the season so far in eight starts.

Our San Diego Padres vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction
Despite both teams putting up some high run totals in recent games, these clubs rank towards the bottom of the league in overall offensive statistics. In addition, these are two starting pitchers that have been in excellent form in their recent outings. We’re expecting a close one here and ultimately a game that sees only a few runs scored. San Diego should edge this one but we wouldn’t be surprised if it comes by only a one run margin. Back a pitchers duel to play out at Petco Park on Tuesday. Our San Diego Padres vs Cleveland Guardians prediction is for under 7.5 runs to be scored.
