With several key injury absences, the San Antonio Spurs have been struggling for positive results and are now hoping to avoid a third loss in a row after losing 141-124 to the Timberwolves last night. 

Despite shooting an impressive 55% from the field and making 11 of their 30 attempts from long range, San Antonio allowed 41 points in the third quarter and were never able to get back in the contest from then on. 

The Spurs average 113.4 points per game this season (15th in the league), while allowing 115.8 PPG (21st overall).

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks are also enduring a major slump, losing their seventh game in eight last night when they were beaten at home 125-116 by the Phoenix Suns. 

Naji Marshall racked up 34 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists, and Klay Thompson added 26 points, while as a team, Dallas shot 48% from the field and 17 of 42 from beyond the arc. 

The Mavs are ranked 12th in the scoring charts, averaging 114.5 points per game, while allowing 114.2 PPG - 17th in the NBA.
