San Antonio Spurs vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction & Betting Tips - NBA
by Joseph King | in NBA Predictions
The Brooklyn Nets head to Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center for this Tuesday night NBA matchup. The Nets have cooled off in the past two weeks after their fantastic 12 game winning streak was put to an end by the Bulls on the 4th of January. Since then, the Nets have managed just two wins from their following games. They’ve also lost their last two consecutive outings after falling 109-98 at home to the first-place Celtics then failing to bounce back in a 112-102 loss to the Thunder. Brooklyn should be confident of putting an end to their current losing skid as the Nets have been an excellent road team so far. Brooklyn has won 14 of their 22 away trips, tied for the second-best road record in the entire NBA. On the season, Brooklyn has won 27 and lost 15, placing them second in the Eastern Conference and 4.5 games behind the Boston Celtics.
On the other side are the San Antonio Spurs who look set for a fourth straight losing season as the team continues to transition. The Spurs have managed only 13 wins from their 44 games this season, placing them second from bottom in the Western Conference. The Spurs have lost five straight games following their 132-119 defeat against Sacramento and have also lost eight of their last 10. Defense has been the problem for San Antonio in their recent losses as they have allowed over 130 points in three straight games. Despite the ugly losing streak, San Antonio has been able to remain competitive in a number of their games. Additionally, they have performed well against Eastern Conference teams and actually have a winning record at 8-7.
Kevin Durant will miss this one for the Brooklyn Nets as the all-pro continues to rehab from an MCL strain which is expected to keep him out for a month. The Nets will have to rely on Kyrie Irving to now shoulder the offensive load. The injury to Durant is a big blow and something that has also had a significant impact on the betting line. This line would have probably been closer to -9 had the 34-year-old been healthy. The Nets will also be without the versatile Ben Simmons who will surely be a miss on the defensive side of the ball.

Our San Antonio Spurs vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction
The Nets have struggled on the offensive side of the ball without Durant in the last two games resulting in two losses and failing to cover the spread in both. The Spurs have been horrid on the defensive side of the ball and will be grateful that they won’t have to deal with Durant’s supreme scoring ability. San Antonio are not a good team but their good coaching has meant that they can at least stay competitive in some of their games, as evidenced by the team’s 12-10 against the spread record as the home team (54.6%). Our San Antonio Spurs vs Brooklyn Nets prediction: Spurs +6
