Roger Federer has won this tournament on six previous occasions, he's also won another 93 singles tournaments and is looking for win number 100 in London. He's not won this title since 2011 but has lost three finals since, though he only made it onto court for two of them as he had to withdraw in 2014. This year has seen him again employ a restricted schedule so he gets to this tournament, perhaps not as tired as in previous years. He won the Australian Open this year and in recent weeks has reached the last eight of the Shanghai Masters and the semi-finals of the Paris Masters, beating Nishikori in both tournaments. He also won the Swiss Open Indoor Championships. He's prone to the occasional bad day but will be confident of a win here.

It's been a great year for Kei Nishikori who has been on the comeback trail after injury. He's forced his way back up the rankings with a string of consistent displays including making the last eight at Wimbledon and the US Open semi-final. He lost in the final of the recent tournaments in Vienna and the Japan Open. He's not got a good record against Federer (not many have of course) and lost his last six.
