Roberto Carballes Baena vs Holger Rune Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

Fourth seed Holger Rune looks to continue his good form in Grand Slam events this year. He takes on unseeded Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round of the US Open. Up next for the winner is a second round match against either Jiri Lehecka or Aslan Karatsev. Rune has reached the last eight at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in his last two Grand Slam tournaments. To secure the hat-trick he'll need his best performance at the US Open. His best to date is the third round he made it to in 2022. His curent form on hard courts isn't that great with only one last 16 in the three recent ones he's played. The world number four has won one title this year and lost in two finals (both Masters tournaments) but they were all on clay. This is his third match against Baena but the first on a hard court. Their most recent meeting was on grass at Wimbledon this year with Rune winning in straight sets.

Roberto Carballes Baena also prefers to play on clay rather than hard courts. The world number 63 was a career high 49th in April of this year. He opted not to play any of the recent hard court events that have been played. His last tournament was on clay in Kitzbuhel in which he lost in the last 16. He's rarely played on hard courts this year and his only two wins both came against fellow Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, one won via a retirement. He has only won two matches in three Grand Slam tournaments this year and has lost in the second round at the US Open in the past two years. He's only once ever made it past the second round of a Grand Slam, reaching the third round at Roland Garros three years ago. Rune is our confident bet to win this in straight sets.
