Roberto Bautista-Agut vs Nikoloz Basilashvili Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Qatar Open

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

Roberto Bautista Agut bids to win this tournament for the second time in three years. The Spaniard is the only see left in this tournament that has seen top players such as Thiem, Federer and Rublev all beaten. Agut didn't get off to a great start in 2021 as Spain lost their hold on the ATP Cup. He only won one of his three matches and then lost in the first round of the Australian Open. He's got his act together though and this is his second final of the year. He reached the final in Montpellier losing to David Goffin. The following week saw him out in the first round of the Rotterdam tournament but he's bounced back to form in Doha. He's had two three set matches this week but that does include beating top seed Dominic Thiem. His good form continued with a straight sets win over defending champion Andrey Rublev.

He wouldn't have expected to be facing Nikoloz Basilashilvili in the final. His opponent is ranked 42nd in the world and hadn't been having a good 2021. He started it with a last eight appearance in Antalya but his two wins came against players outside the top 250 in the world. His two tournaments in Australia didn't produce a single win and included a loss to a player ranked outside the top 180. Another loss to a player with a three figure ranking happened in Montpellier. Somehow this week he has found his form and beat Roger Federer and Taylor Fritz on his way to this final. Agut can win this match though to win another Doha title.

Our Roberto Bautista-Agut vs Nikoloz Basilashvili Prediction

After nearly losing in the first round, it's been a solid week for Roberto Bautista Agut. He likes playing here and won the title two years ago. Wins over Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev show what good form he is in.  His opponent has had a great week with that win over Federer in the last eight after a disappointing start to 2021. Three of his previous five matches against Agut have been lost. The Spaniard can win this in straight sets.
