Sixth seeded Roberto Bautista Agut takes on qualifier Laslo Djere in the Swiss Indoor Championships first round. Agut began this tournament ranked 22nd in the world but was as high as 15th in May of this year. The Spaniard has had some mixed form this month. He reached the quarter finals in Astana, beating Felix Auger-Aliassime earlier in the tournament. Since then though he's lost his first match in both Gijon and Naples. He's won two titles this year, one in Doha, the other in Kitzbuhel.

Laslo Djere is the world number 75 but has been as low as 89th this year. The Serb had to qualify to get into the main draw and both his matches saw him lose the first set. August saw him lose in the final of the Winston Salem Open (no players in the top 50 beaten) but since then has failed to make it past the last 16 in five tournaments. There has been one previous meeting between the pair. That was four years ago on clay with Agut getting the win after losing the first set. Back Agut to get another win and set up a match against either Andy Murray or qualifier Roman Safiullin.
