Two seeds meet in the US Open third round and there's been a reversal of fortunes for the pair. Roberto Bautista is the 18th seed and has dropped down the rankings, while Felix Auger-Aliassime has climbed the list and is the 12th seed.  The 21-year-old Canadian as reaced a couple of finals this year, in Melbourne and Stuttgart. No titles though but he does return to the scene of one of his greatest triumphs. That was winning the Boys' singles here in 2015. He reached the last eight at Wimbledon this year and also got to that stage at the recent Western & Southern Open. This wekek has seen him beat Evgeny Donskoy in four sets and then Bernabe Zapata Miralles in straight sets. Two matches and four tie-breaks, might we see another one in this match? It's worth a bet.

Roberto Bautista Agut began 2021 ranked 13th in the world but has slipped to 21st. He'll be back in the top 20 as a result of making it to the US Open third round. The Spaniard was in good form earlier this year and reached the final in Doha and the semi-finals of the Miami Masters. He's had some notable wins over Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev. Not recently tough as he's only made it to the last eight in two of his last 12 tournaments. He's been in good form this week with wins over Nick Kyrgios and Emil Ruusuvuori losing only 13 games. A win here would match the fourth round he reached here six years ago. Auger-Aliassime looks to be the most consistent of the two. They've had a couple of previous meetings and are 1-1. Auger-Aliassime can make it 2-1 with a win here.
