Rob Cross takes on Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals of Premier Darts League Night 13. Mighty Mike is in fifth place after 12 Nights and that’s one position above his opponent. Can Voltage get a vital win? Here’s our match prediction.
These two players are the only ones of the eight taking part who are yet to win a Night. Cross is the only one yet to reach a final, but he is only three points behind the play-off position. Both he and van Gerwen will be at a disadvantage if they don’t get a win under their belts.
Cross has won five of his 12 matches in this year’s Darts Premier League. He has a higher average and checkout percentage than his opponent. Last week he beat Stephen Bunting 6-1 but then lose to eventual winner Gerwyn Price 6-2.
This is only the second meeting for them in this year’s competition. The other was in Night Four with Cross winning 6-5.
Michael van Gerwen is only behind the final play-off position on the number of Nights won. Just one final has been reached by him and like Cross, he’s reached seven semi-finals. Last week he beat Luke Littler 6-5 before losing to Luke Humphries. We tip him to win this match.
