Road Warriors vs San Miguel Beermen Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup
by Joseph King | in PBA, Governors Cup Predictions
The PBA Governors’ Cup sees the NLEX Road Warriors taking on the San Miguel Beermen at the PhilSports arena. NLEX are essentially playing for a spot in the top four which would bring with it the massive “twice-to-beat” advantage in the playoff quarter final. A win wraps up fourth-place for them while a loss would see them fall to 7-4 and fall below Meralco to fifth-place due to tiebreaker. Therefore, NLEX must consider themselves in playoff mode as falling to fifth-place would mean they enter the “twice-to-win” scenario where they will have to record two wins as opposed to just one in the quarterfinals. The Road Warriors blew out Terrafirma in their last outing, putting on a scoring clinic as they recorded a 142-125 win. The victory is NLEX’s second in a row and the third in the last four games as head coach Frankie Lim’s side has finished the season strongly.
San Miguel Beermen enter this matchup off the back of a disappointing performance in the EASL which saw them lose both of their games in demoralising fashion. The Beermen’s average margin of defeat in those two games was a massive 41.5 points. They’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways here as they return to the Philippines to take on a familiar opponent in NLEX. San Miguel’s last Governors’ Cup outing resulted in a tight 105-103 loss to TNT Tropang Giga, their second loss in the past four PBA games. The Beermen are in a strong position heading into the final two games of the season as they sit on a record of seven wins and two defeats. This means that Jorge Gallent’s team need just one win to seal themselves a top four spot and a “twice-to-beat” advantage. If they are unable to get it done against NLEX, San Miguel will still be able to clinch with a win over 10th-place Rain or Shine on the final day.

Our Road Warriors vs San Miguel Beermen Prediction
The oddsmakers have the Beermen listed as heavy favorites for this game but could find themselves in for a tough time against this NLEX team. The Road Warriors are playing well at the moment and are finding the basket with ease after putting up 142 points in their last outing. The Beermen have a formidable 7-2 record but a number of their wins have been closely contested affairs which ended in single digit margins of victory. NLEX are effectively in playoff mode and need this win much more than the Beermen who can still clinch a top four spot in their final game against a much weaker team. Our NLEX vs San Miguel Beermen prediction: NLEX +9 point spread
