Rinky Hijikata and Adrian Mannarino, both unseeded, will face off in the opening round of the 2025 Dallas Open. The winner of their second career meeting will play Kei Nishikori or Tomas Machac for a place in the quarters. Below is our prediction for this match.

Hijikata lost in the second round in his Dallas debut last year. On his return, he will hope to avoid another early exit.

The Australian is having a shaky start to the season. He has managed just four wins across his nine fixtures. Hijikata, who has won once in his last four matches, was defeated in the second round at the Brisbane Challenger last time out.

This inconsistent start has seen him drop to 73rd in the live ranking.

Mannarino is having an even worse start to the campaign than Hijikata. The veteran Frenchman, who is in his 15th year as a pro, has managed just one win in seven outings.

He is currently on a five-match losing streak. But as he has defeated Hijikata before and has produced strong performances in Dallas previously, he will be confident of a winning start.

Mannarino, a two-time Dallas semi-finalist, defeated Hijikata on Grass in Newport two years ago. The 36-year-old is set to begin a new week ranked again outside the ATP top 100 places.
