Adrian Mannarino will begin his Hall of Fame Open campaign on Wednesday with a second-round tie against unseeded Rinky Hijikata. Advancing from this round will set up a quarterfinal showdown with either seventh-seed Jordan Thompson or unseeded Liam Broady. Rinky Hijikata is making his debut in Newport. He began the tournament in strong fashion, defeating Abedallah Shelbayh 2-0 and dropped seven games in the process. This was the 26th win of a rocky season for the Australian who has lost 21 times thus far. Nine of his victories have come on grass, a surface he has played 14 matches on. His first-round win has moved him into a new world ranking. Hijikata is now ranked 112th after moving up four places in the live ranking. He will hope he adds to his one challenger title in 2023 by winning his first tour title here.

Adrian Mannarino is making his 10th appearance at Newport. The veteran Frenchman first appeared here in 2012 but was unable to get out of the qualifying rounds then. Eleven years later he starts as one of the top seeds and will target going past the quarterfinals for the first time. Mannarino arrives for the tournament after his second-round exit at Wimbledon. He has struggled for form and currently has won the same number of matches as he has lost. The grass court has played a huge part in him tying his record with eight of his 21 victories coming on the surface. And his first tour final in almost a year came on grass in Mallorca. He is currently placed at number 36 in the live ranking.
