Raphael Collignon vs Maximilian Marterer Prediction & Betting Tips - Koblenz, Germany

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

Fourth seeded Maximilian Marterer takes on Raphael Collignon for a place in the Koblenz Open semi-final. Marterer was ranked 157th at the start of ths Challenger Tour held in his home country of Germany. His career high ranking is 45th, achieved five years ago. Most of his best results have come on clay and he reached the fourth round of the French Open in 2018. He has won 13 titles on the Challenger/Futures tour, four on a hard court. This year has seen him begin with appearances in two ATP Tour events. He kicked off the year with a quarter final in Pune, India beating two players ranked above him before a loss to Botic van Zandschlup (ranked 35th) in the last eight. His Australian Open campaign didn't go well when he had to retire after losing the first set of his first qualifying round match against Yannick Hanfmann. Back on court this week, Marterer has beaten Vitally Sachko and Adrian Andreev, both in straight sets. Those wins have taken him up to 147th in the live rankings and a win over Collignon can see him rise another nine places.

Collignon began this week ranked 268th in the world, just below the career high he achieved last month. His run to the quarter finals of this Challenger Tour event has him up to 256th and a win over the seventh seed can see him climb another 24 places. The 21-year-old has had a busy year and this is his fourth tournament of 2023. He's bidding to reach his second semi-final after getting to the last four in a Challenger Tour event held in Oeiras in Portugal. That was his first event of the year but only one match was won in the next two. This week has seen him get wins over eighth seeded Gijs Brouwer (after losing the first set) and then a straight sets win over Henri Laaksonen.  Marterer can get the win here to reach the last four.
