The second round of matches in the 2025 Indian Premier League gets underway on Wednesday with the Rajasthan Royals playing host to the Kolkata Knight Riders at the ACA Stadium. RR are sixth in the group stage standings, while KKR are fifth. Check out our match prediction below.
The Rajasthan Royals got their IPL campaign off to a tough start, as they ran into a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad side that posted 286/6 - the second-highest total in the tournament’s history.
Despite solid knocks from Sanju Samson (66 off 37 balls) and Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35 balls), the Royals still came up 44 runs shy of the target, leaving them with a net run rate of -2.200.
RR will need a much better performance with the ball in this match to stand a chance after none of their bowlers that bowled more than one over managed to concede less than 10 runs per over in the last match.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders also suffered defeat in their opening match of the competition, losing by seven wickets and with 22 balls left to the Royal Challengers.
Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine top-scored with 56 and 44 runs respectively to help the side to 174/8, but their bowlers only took three wickets in the second innings which allowed RCB to secure the win.
These sides have met 30 times in the IPL and are locked level on 14 wins apiece, while two games were abandoned. However, the Royals have won four of the last five, with one game washed out.
