Second seed Gregoire Barrere and sixth seed Radu Albot will on Friday square off at the Open de Rennes Challenger. They will battle in the quarterfinals with the winner playing either Maxime Cressy or Mattia Bellucci next. Radu Albot is making his debut in Rennes and has been in superb form. Gregoire Barrere is sitting much higher up in the ATP world ranking and comes in at number 62. He too has struggled with his form this season and has compiled a 29-24 record. His form on indoor hard court however should have him not only confident of winning here but also advancing to the championship match. The Frenchman has won 13 of the 16 matches he has played on indoor hard court. This has resulted in one challenger title on home soil in Quimper. Barrere had a difficult time getting past his second-round match against the qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas. The match lasted for two hours after he dropped his first set of the competition in the middle set. Barrere has equaled his best-ever result here by advancing to the last eight. He defeated Albot the last time they met, which was on outdoor hard court in Cincinnati in 2020.
