Alexander Bublik is ranked 46th in the world and is bidding to reach his second final of the year. He has to get past Radu Albot to make it to the final of the Singapore Open. Bublik is another of the young Russian players making good progress on the ATP circuit. He began this year with a run to the final of the tournament held in Antalya, Turkey. He lost to Alex de Minaur in the final  losing the first two games and then retiring with an injury. Earlier in the tournament he'd beaten world number ten Matteo Berrettini. He lost in the second round of the Australian Open but has been in good form in Singapore. Two wins have been required to get him to the last four. He hasn't dropped a set and only lost nine games. The quarter final saw him defeat fifth seeded Yoshihito Nishioka.

Radu Albot is a player climbing the rankings with the latest list having him up nine places to 76. He made it to the third round of the Australian Open, including a first round win over Roberto Bautista Agut who's ranked 13th in the world. It's been a struggle for him in this tournament with both of his first two matches going to three sets. It was better for him in the quarter final as he ousted number one seed Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The pair have only had one previous meeting, that was in 2016 on the Challenger circuit with Bublik getting a three-set win. He can get another win here to reach the final.
