Quentin Halys, the top seed at the Qatar Open qualifying rounds, will face off with the unseeded Stan Wawrinka. The winner of this match will secure passage into the main draw. Below is our prediction for this match.

Halys is making his second appearance in Doha. The Frenchman debuted here in 2023 but lost in the first round. He defeated wildcard Mubarak Al-Harrasi in straight sets in the first round.

This was the second victory of a slow start to the season. Halys, who has dropped three places to 77th in the live ranking, has lost four times in six outings.

One of his losses came in the qualifying rounds in Adelaide.

Stan Wawrinka has also had a disappointing start to the year. The former world number three has managed just one win in five outings. That victory came in his opening-round qualifier against sixth-seed Arthur Cazaux.

Wawrinka, who had been on a six-match losing streak dating back from last season, won in straight sets. The match lasted one hour and 34 minutes and saw the Swiss require a tiebreaker to win the opening set.

Wawrinka, who is ranked outside the ATP top 170 places, is a former Doha finalist. He earned this feat in 2008. In his last two appearances here, he lost in the first round and the semi-finals.
