Quentin Halys will make his season grass-court debut on Monday against Daniel Evans in the first round at Wimbledon. Unseeded Halys has a 14-13 win-loss record on the surface and will hope to add to his 14 wins here. The Frenchman arrives at the All England Club after bagging his first title of the year in Blois in the Challenger circuit. Halys has endured a rocky season thus far and has managed 23 wins which is five more matches than losses he has suffered. This will be the second tournament he is playing a main draw match at Wimbledon. He won his first-round tie last season but was eliminated in the second round. Halys and Evans have played each other twice and have each claimed one win. He arrives for this latest tie placed 79th in the live ranking.

Evans, seeded 27th, has been struggling in 2023. The Briton has managed only nine wins all season and has lost 17 times. His latest defeat came in the first round in London. He is a better performer on grass than Halys and will hope that comes to the fore in this match. Evans has a 92-63 record on grass in his career and has several titles won on the surface. He is making his 12th appearance at Wimbledon and has won 10 of the 21 matches he has played here. Evans has never made it to the second week of competition here but he has three times made it to the third round. He is currently 30th in the ATP live ranking. The winner of this tie will play either Daniel Altmaier or Aleksandar Vukic, both unseeded, in the second round.
