One of the closing matches of the second round at the BNP Paribas will see defending champion Carlos Alcaraz take on Quentin Halys. We have a prediction for the match below.

The first meeting between the two will produce an opponent for either Denis Shapovalov or Adam Walton in the third round.

Having witnessed the elimination of top players in this round, two-time champion Alcaraz will hope not to join the queue. He hasn’t been entirely consistent and that’s a concern for his fans though he has the Rotterdam title to his name.

The Spaniard is coming from a three-set defeat to Jiri Lehecka at the quarter-finals in Doha. He arrives here placed third in the live rankings.

Halys had a great run out in Dubai last week. He started off as a qualifier but went all the way to the semis. He was solid in the game though losing 2-1 to a more superior Felix Auger-Aliassime.

That built up his momentum for a good start at Indian Wells where he powered his way to a straight-sets win over Pablo Carreno-Busta.

That duel lasted about 1.5 hours and he will have enough in his tank for Alcaraz. With that, he improved by 18 places in the live rank to 59th.
