Qinwen Zheng vs Leylah Annie Fernandez Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Japan Open

Top seed Qinwen Zheng takes on the eighth seed Leylah Fernandez in the Toray Pan Pacific Open. This is a quarter-final match with the winner up against either sixth seed Diana Shnaider or qualifier Sayaka Ishii in the last four. Time for our match prediction.

Qinwen Zheng is at seventh in the latest rankings but even if winning this tournament won't climb any higher. The 22-year-old is in excellent form at present and this is her fourth successive quarter-final. Her last tournament saw Zheng lose in the final of the Wuhan Open to Aryna Sabalenka. 

In the last 16 of that tournament, Zheng beat Fernandez in three sets, winning the final one without dropping a game. So far in this tournament, Zheng has beaten Moyuka Uchijima in straight sets.

World number 35 Leylah Fernandez is in her first quarter-final since the Cincinnati tournament played in August. The Canadian is up to 34th in the live rankings. This week has seen her beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Varvara Gracheva, both going to a final set.

Despite the recent loss to Zheng, she leads 2-1 in previous meetings and did defeat the Chinese number one on hard courts in Doha this year.  Zheng is in top form though and we tip her to win.
