Qinwen Zheng vs Leylah Annie Fernandez Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wuhan Open

Fifth seed Qinwen Zheng will seek her first win against the unseeded Leylah Fernandez when they match up next in Wuhan. This is their third career meeting and the winner will play Erika Andreeva, Yuan Yue or Jasmine Paolini. We have a prediction of this match. 

Qinwen Zheng saw off wildcard Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets to begin her Wuhan campaign. The Chinese number one has been excellent this season and is one of the main favourites for the title. 

Zheng is coming off a semi-final run in Beijing and will feel unsatisfied with failing to get at least to the final. The world number seven has compiled a 42-15 record and won two titles including a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. 

Leylah Fernandez is not having anything close to Zheng’s season. She has been inconsistent and currently has won five more matches than the 21 she lost. 

On the bright side ahead of this match is that she has never lost against Zheng. The Canadian won both meetings with Zheng which were on hard courts. Their most recent duel was earlier this year in Doha. 

A finalist in Eastbourne back in June, Fernandez has won both of her matches in Wuhan via a decider. Fernandez, who defeated 12th seed Diana Shnaider in the first round, eliminated lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova to advance to this round. 

She is currently placed 34th in the live ranking after dropping six places due to losing 160 points.
