We have an unexpected final in the women's singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Sixth seed Qinwen Zheng from China takes on Croatia's Donna Vekic who is seeded 13th in this tournament. Read our prediction of what should be a fascinating match.

The Chinese player has reached the final for the loss of only two sets. The world number seven is in sparkling form at present. Just before this Olympic tournament, the 21-year-old won the clay court tournament held in Palermo, Italy.

That form has carried on in Paris and she's now unbeaten in her last ten matches, all played on clay. A great start was made to this tournament as she beat Sam Errani without dropping a single game. Arantxa Rus also failed to take a set off her in round two.

The next two rounds both saw her have to come from behind to get the win. Emma Navarro and Angelique Kerber both failed to hang onto their leads against her. Then in the semi-final, top seed Iga Swiatek was beaten in straight sets.

It's been a great year for her so far with the final  of the Australian Open reached. The pair are 1-1 in previous meetings, both played on an indoor hard court. 

Donna Vekic is the world number 21 and also in excellent form. This is her first tournament since reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon. This is her second final of the year, the other being achieved on grass in Bod Hamburg. 

This year saw her get to the third round at Roland Garros, her best being a last 16 appearance five years ago. Back on these famous courts for this Olympic tournament, the 28-year-old has beaten Lucia Bronzetti, Bianca Andreescu and then second seed Cori Gauff, all in straight sets.

A third set was needed in the semi-finals when beating 12th seed Marta Kostyuk in three sets. We tip over 19.5 games to be played.
