Aryna Sabalenka continues her bid to end the weekend as world number one and US Open champion. The first half has been achieved already but the 25-year-old has to get past Qinwen Zheng to reach the last four. Whoever wins this match will face either Marketa Vondrousova or Madison Keys in the last four. The defeat of Iga Swiatek in the last 16 has taken Sabalenka to the top of the rankings and she also leads in the WTA Race. Now to see if she can win her second Grand Slam title of the year. A win over Zheng will take Sabalenka into her third consecutive US Open semi-final and her fifth in all Grand Slams. Only 16 games have been dropped by her in four matches with no one able to win four games in a set against her.

23rd seeded Qinwen Zheng is playing in the main draw of the US Open for only the second time. 2022 saw her get to the third round and before this week had never reached a Grand Slam quarter final. It's gone well for her in New York after a disappointing year in the other three Grand Slams. The Chinese player hadn't managed to get past the second round before this tournament. The last round saw her defeat Ons Jabeur in straight sets. Before that she'd lost two sets and another couple look on the way here. We go for Sabalenka to win in straight sets.
