Polina Kudermetova vs Alycia Parks Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Korea Open

Sixth seed Alycia Parks and the unseeded Polina Kudermetova will meet for the first time on Monday at the Korea Open. The winner of this opening-round tie will set up a second-round showdown with either Kathika von Deichmann or Irina Khromacheva. Polina Kudermetova was forced to retire in her last match which was on clay in the Serbia 17A in the ITF circuit. This was almost two weeks ago and she should therefore be fully recovered for this match. Kudermetova, who is the younger sister to WTA top 20 player Veronika, has had a decent campaign in 2023. She has compiled a 29-21 record playing mainly outside the tour and has won one title in the ITF circuit. The Russian has however not played that many matches on hard courts. A strong performer on hard courts, Kudermetova has played just five times on the surface this year and has won three times. She is currently ranked 169th in the live ranking after making a five-place leap.

Alycia Parks has struggled to get going this year and still has lost more matches than she has won. The American has lost six more matches than the 18 she has won. She has struggled on every surface but one. This however isn’t on hard court where the majority of her defeats, 12, have come in 19 outings. Parks has lost five of her last six matches. The latest defeat came in the first round in Beijing to eventual finalist Liudmila Samsonova. Parks’ struggles have seen her continue to plummet down the WTA world rankings. She is currently down 10 places to 53rd in the live ranking.
