Poland and Egypt will face off in their opening match of the 2024 Paris Olympics volleyball campaign on Saturday afternoon. The White and Reds are currently the number-one-ranked team in the world while the Pharaohs are 19th. Check out our match prediction below.

The Poles arrive in Paris as one of the favourites to challenge for the top step on the podium and look primed for a solid run, now topping the world rankings. 

They reinforced their status as one of the most formidable sides globally with their recent results of eight wins in their last 10 matches. Additionally, the team has won each of their last 12 matches against this opponent. 

Poland were one of the first teams to qualify for Paris, topping Pool C at the FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifier. The White and Reds are set to feature at their 11th Games but have not gotten past the quarter-final in their last five attempts. 

Meanwhile, Egypt booked their ticket to Paris as the highest-placed African side in the FIVB World Ranking at the end of the Olympic qualification term. However, they are also the lowest-ranked team in the competition, just inside the top 20. 

This marks the sixth time that the Pharaohs are competing at the Games, though they have never advanced beyond the Pool stage in any of their last five attempts and only won one match in that time. 

The Egyptians are likely to struggle in this group, which also features Brazil and Italy. They have also failed to win a single set against their upcoming opponent in their last eight encounters.
