Poland are the top ranked team in the world and can reach the last eight of the Men's European Volleyball Championships. They take on Belgium in the last 16 with the winners up against either Serbia or the Czech Republic in the quarter finals. Poland have been in top form so far in this tournament and won Pool C from the Netherlands. They won all five of their pool matches and only dropped one set. That was in the win over the Netherlands but neither the Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Denmark could take a set off them. Poland only conceded 272 points in the pool stages and that made them the only country to lose less than 300 in their five matches.

Belgium are 20th in the world rankings so well below their opponents. To reach the last 16 the Belgians finished fourth in Pool A with seven points. That was the final qualifying position but they were five points ahead of fifth placed Estonia. Belgium won two of their five matches and both their wins came against Estonia and Switzerland (who lost all their matches) for the loss of only one set. Those were the last two matches for thm in the pool stages having already been beaten by Italy, Germany and Serbia. 412 points were lost by them in their five pool games and more are on the way here.
