Pittsburgh Penguins vs Los Angeles Kings Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The 24-20-7 Pittsburgh Penguins are at home to the 26-16-10 Los Angeles Kings in the early hours of Monday morning. The Penguins ended a four-game win streak for the Kings when they beat them 4-2 in overtime in Southern California back in November. They ended a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win in Chicago over the Blackhawks, the first time they have netted more than three in 12 games. Despite having some of the most well-known players in the league, they have struggled for goals this season, on the powerplay especially. One area where the team has greatly improved over recent years has come at the back with the addition of Erik Karlsson. They are third in the league in defence which is a massive step forward and with the offensive firepower that they have at their disposal, they will be hoping to add to the goals. Losing Jake Guentzel for a month is going to hurt with his 52 points this season second only to Sidney Crosby.
The Kings have been very inconsistent this season and have not been any better in that sense under their new head coach. A 0-7 loss at the Buffalo Sabres was their heaviest defeat of the season and although they bounced back since with a win at the New Jersey Devils, they are not a team to trust fully. They won against the Boston Bruins on their most recent outing on Saturday evening in a game where they scored late in overtime to claim the two points. Things have without a doubt been better for them on the road this season rather than at home so they will feel that they can make up for the defeat at the hands of the Pens back towards the start of the season. Captain Anze Kopitar is now just six games away from 1350 in his career with almost 1200 points on the board. Only 54 players have featured in more games and only 51 have made it to that level of points which shows the rarified air that he has played at in his career.
