Pittsburgh Penguins vs Florida Panthers Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The 21-17-6 Pittsburgh Penguins will welcome the 28-14-4 Florida Panthers to PPG Paints Arena in the early hours of Friday morning. The Pens continue to be one of the most inconsistent franchises in the league, no team has shut out their opponents as often as they have, yet they have not scored enough goals. That has left them 7th with just the Columbus Blue Jackets currently behind them in the Metropolitan division. Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel are the only two players currently operating at more than a point a game and with Reilly Smith now missing from the second line for the foreseeable future, they have a big hole to fill on an already slow and ageing group of forwards. With just two players who are under 25, they are the oldest team in the league and it has shown with four losses in their last five games.
By contrast, the Panthers have been flying of late producing some serious offensive numbers to go along with a strong blue line. They have the exceptional Paul Maurice behind the bench to keep them moving in the right direction. This will be the 130th game that Maurice has been in charge of the Panthers with a 60% win rate, the best of his long career. Only five coaches in the history of the NHL have more wins than him and he is only three wins away from tying 5th. The Panthers have been helped by a career year from Sam Reinhart who tops the league in powerplay tallies and game-winning goals. He has 13 goals in his last 15 games to take him up to 35 on the season, a new career-high with 35 games of the regular season still to go.
