The PBA Governors’ Cup continues with the Phoenix Fuelmasters battling for their playoff lives when they take on Converge FiberXers at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Converge is having a fantastic season as they search for their first championship since their founding just last year. The FiberXers are currently sitting third in the standings and have already assured themselves a spot in the quarter-finals of the postseason. What they are battling for now is a top four finish which would guarantee them a “twice to beat” advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Converge has won six of their eight games and can go even with second-place San Miguel with a victory here which would put both teams on a record of 7-2. Their last outing resulted in a 98-90 win over Blackwater Bossing as they were able to return to winning ways following a close four point loss against NLEX in the match prior.

On the other side are the Phoenix Fuel Masters who are battling at the bottom end of the playoff picture. The Fuel Masters currently sit in the eighth and final playoff spot with their record of two wins and five losses. A win here would put them in an excellent position to secure a postseason berth while a loss would certainly complicate things. They will mainly need to be concerned with holding off ninth, tenth and 11th-place who each sit on a record of two wins and six losses. Phoenix is coming off a convincing 125-100 win over Terrafirma in their last outing, snapping a two game losing streak and opening up their qualifying path. The Fuel Masters have a young team and will need to be careful as inexperience at this level can often see a disappointing performance following a good win.
