Phoenix Fuel Masters vs Bolts Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup
by Joseph King | in PBA, Governors Cup Predictions
The PBA Governors’ Cup final regular season match sees two teams with a lot on the line when the Phoenix Fuelmasters host the Meralco Bolts on Friday. The visiting Meralco are looking to ensure their top four seeding with a win here, as fifth place TNT could overtake them if the Bolts lose and TNT prevail in their game later on. A top four seeding means that Meralco would only have to defeat their quarterfinal opponent once to advance to the semifinal, while the bottom four seeds need to record two straight victories. The Bolts have endured a horrid run of form recently and have now lost three straight games - a losing streak that sees them battling for the fourth seed after previously sitting atop the table. Their last match was a 115-110 loss to the Beermen and Norman Black’s team will be looking to get back to winning ways here. Meralco are a team with championship aspirations but will need to right the ship quickly as we enter the playoffs if they are to have any chance of achieving their goal.
Their opponents, the Phoenix Fuelmasters, come into this game with the season on the line. They currently sit in ninth place, just trailing eighth place Northport who each share a 5-5 record. A win over Meralco and a TNT win over Northport guarantees the Fuelmasters their playoff spot, while a win and a Northport win could still potentially see them go through depending on the scores. Ultimately, coach Topex Robinson will be telling his squad “Win or go home” as a loss all but eliminates them from contention. Phoenix are coming off a big 104-99 win over the Alaska Aces in their last game that kept their playoff hopes alive and snapped a three game losing skid. The hosts come into this game as underdogs and it could be tough for them to deny a motivated Meralco team, especially considering the Phoenix’s home performances have left a lot to be desired with a 1-3 record in their arena.
