Seattle Seahawks finished second in NFC West and put up a good fight against San Francisco 49ers who are the number one seeds in the NFC. The Seahawks are seeded fifth in the NFC and travel to second seeded Philadelphia Eagles. The winner of this wild card match will play the 49ers in the Divisional play-offs, so they face a tough task there. Seattle had an 11-5 regular season record and were 8-4 against NFC teams.  They are through to the play-offs for the seventh time in eight seasons but didn't end the season with as impressive a record as once looked likely. They were 10-2 for the season but lost three of their last four matches.

Philadelphia Eagles had a battle on their hands but ended up winners of the NFC East with a 9-7 record for the regular season. They finished just ahead of the Dallas Cowboys who ended on 8-8 but of all the NFC qualifiers for the play-offs, Philadelphia have the least number of wins, four less than all the others. This is their third straight season in the play-offs but after week 12, a play-off place wasn't in their minds. That's because they were 5-7 at that stage but won their last four to clinch the division. The Seahawks have already won once in Philadelphia this season and they can go there again and win.
