NBA action on Wednesday sees the Philadelphia 76ers looking to continue their positive momentum when they host the Washington Wizards at the Wells Fargo Center as the two teams play each other in consecutive games. After a rough start to the season, the Sixers have won their last three games on the bounce to get back to .500 on the year with a 4-4 record. They recorded a 118-111 win over the Wizards in DC on Monday and will now look to take advantage of their home crowd as they try to make it four straight wins. On the other side, the Wiz have fallen to a 3-4 record after previously starting the season 3-1.

A lot is expected of this Philadelphia team this season with many believing this could be the year that Joel Embiid and James Harden make the NBA Finals. A team not expected to do much this year, Washington got off to a hot 3-1 start before losing their last three in a row to put them below .500.

All-stars James Harden and Joel Embiid rightly attract most of the attention for the 76ers on a nightly basis and have each started the year playing at a high level; Harden averaging 21.8 points and 10 assists per game while Embiid continues with his MVP type numbers of 27.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. However, it’s the breakout performance of guard Tyrese Maxey that could perhaps be the key to Philadelphia making a legitimate title push this season. The third-year pro has taken a significant leap this season and is averaging 23.3 points per game on a superb 51% from the field and 45% from three. Maxey put up a career high 44 points against the Raptors on Friday and most recently dropped 28 against the Wizards.

Philly should record a rather comfortable victory here and go to 5-4 on the year.
