Two East coast rivals face off as the Boston Celtics travel to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in this NBA matchup. Both teams have been red-hot in recent weeks and they are separated by just two games in the Eastern Conference standings. The visiting Boston Celtics are one of the hottest teams in basketball, coming off a 105-95 home win vs the Hawks in their last game to extend their winning streak to eight games. With the all-star game in only a few games, we’ll see if the Celtics can keep their focus and their streak alive in what will be a tough road test for the team currently sitting sixth in the East with a record of 33-25. The hosting Sixers have been on a good run of their own and morale around the team should be good after recently trading Ben Simmons, who still has yet to play a minute this season, for former MVP James Harden. Philadelphia currently sit fourth in the East with a record of 34-22 and trail the first play Heat by 2.5 games.

76ers Center Joel Embiid has been playing at an MVP level again this season. He is coming off a monster triple double in the last game finishing with 40 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists and is showing no signs of slowing down. While the Celtics have grabbed a lot of attention recently due to having the longest current active winning streak in the league, Philadelphia is quietly and consistently putting in good performance after good performance and have now won seven of their last 10 games. It’s a testament to the coaching of Doc Rivers that the 76ers are now only a few games back from the top seed in the East with their second best player having refused to play for them this season until he was ultimately traded. There’s a lot of anticipation to see Harden and Embiid on the court together but unfortunately for the Philadelphia faithful, they will have to wait until after the all-star break as Harden is still out injured.
