Both these teams are in the Atlantic division of the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia 76ers are in second place and host the Boston Celtics who are in fourth. The 76ers have a 23-17 season record, that puts them three wins behind divisional leaders Brooklyn and fifth overall in the conference. They are only a couple of wins ahead of Boston but have played two games less than their opponents. Home form for Philadelphia has seen them win eight of their 17 games. They have fared much better on the road with a 15-8 season record. The 76ers ended 2021 strongly and carried on the good form in this new year. Seven games had been won in a row before losing their most recent fixture at home to Charlotte. They had won the previous two home games before that defeat. 

Boston are 21-21 for the season and that puts them 10th in the conference, just hanging on for a play-in position. It's close though with the New York Knicks who are 11th in the conference at 21-21 and bottom of the competitive Atlantic division. The Celtics have lost 13 of their 21 games played on the road this season. The new year began with the Celtics losing two of their first three games. Since then though, they have had victories over the New York Knicks and an OT win against Indiana, both at home. Away form is still a problem though with a 1-7 record in December and January.
