Ninth seeded Marketa Vondrousova takes on unseeded Peyton Stearns. At stake is a place in the US Open quarter finals against either third seeded Jessica Pegula or 17th seed Madison Keys. Vondrousova is bidding to win her second successive Grand Slam after her Wimbledon title in the summer. The Czech is in the fourth round of the US Open for only the second time and the first in five years. This is only the second time in her career that she's made it to the fourth round of two consecutive Grand Slams, the other occasion being in 2021. Vondrousova has been in dominant form in this US Open. Her three wins have seen her lose just ten games. Only one of the six sets played has seen her opponent win more than two games. The last round saw her defeat 22nd seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova for the loss of just three games.

Peyton Stearns has been climbing up the rankings during this tournament. The American was in 49th at the start of this Grand Slam and is now up to 44th. A win over Vondrousova could take her up another 11 places in the rankings. Her Grand Slam experience is limited and this is only her fourth time in the main draw of one. It's also her first time past the third round of one, the other being at Roland Garros earlier this year. In the US Open, Stearns arrived in New York this year having never won a main draw match in this tournament.. That's all changed with three straight sets wins, all over unseeded opposition. The last round saw her beat Katie Boulter in straight sets. This is a lot tougher and we go for in-form Vondrousova to get the win in straight sets.
