Petra Kvitová vs Jessica Pegula Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

21st seeded Petra Kvitova takes on the eighth seed Jessica Pegula in the US Open last 16. Kvitova had been slipping down the rankings and was as low as 34th four months ago. Winning the Eastbourne grass court tournament and then reaching the Cincinnati Masters finals has seen her climbing back up the list. The Czech began this tournament in 21st place but is up to 19th in the live rankings. A win here could take her as high as 14th. Kvitova has never made it past the quarter finals in the US Open and the last time she achieved that was five years ago. This tournament has seen her beat Erika Andreeva, get a walkover after Anhelina Kalinina pulled out and then defeat ninth seeded Garbine Muguruza in three sets with the final set going to a tie-break. Kvitova has had two previous matches against Pegula and won them both. They were played in 2020 (at the US Open) and 2021 with Kvitova winning both in straight sets.

Jessica Pegula has reached two Grand Slam quarter finals this year (Australia and Roland Garros) but this is her first time in the fourth round of the US Open. Pegula began the tournament ranked but is a career high sixth in the live rankings. Winning against Kvitova will take her above Maria Sakkari into fifth. The American is in good form and recently got to the last four in Toronto and the quarter finals in Cincinnati. In terms of ranking points earned this year, only Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur have earned more then she has. Pegula has had wins in this tournament over Viktorija Golubic, Aliaksandra Sasnovich and a three set win over Yuan Yue. The second set was lost in that third round match but Pegula recovered to win the final set without dropping a game.  It's hard to choose between these two players. A three setter looks likely, go for over 21.5 games to be played.
