Petra Kvitová vs Cristina Bucsa Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

Recently married Petra Kvitova faces unseeded Cristina Busca in the US Open first round. The 11th seed will take on either the returning Caroline Wozniacki or qualfier Tatania Prozorova if getting through this match. Kvitova has never made it past the quarter finals in the US Open. The last three years have seen her reach the fourth round twice and lose in the third in 2021. Only twice has the Czech been beaten in the first round of the US Open, the most recent being in 2011. Kvitova hasn't reached a Grand Slam quarter final since Roland Garros three years ago. It looks difficult for her to get to the last eight here as in-form Coco Gauff is her scheduled last 16 opponent. Her last two hard court tournaments have seen her fail to get past the last 16.

Cristina Busca is ranked 65th in the world and that's her career high. The Spaniard has only once made it to the second round of the US Open and that was last year. In the other hard court Grand Slam held in Australia earler this year, Busca got to the third round. Her last tournament was in Chicago and Busca made it to the semi-finals but had to retire after just three games. Not the ideal preparation for the US Open but hopefully she's fully fit now. This is the first meeting between the pair and we go for Kvitova to win in straight sets.
