Petra Kvitová vs Caroline Garcia Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Cincinnati Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Predicting the results of a women's singles tournament is never an easy task. Who would have predicted a Cincinnati Masters final between unseeded Petra Kvitova and qualifier Caroline Garcia. The latter has made history by becoming the first qualifier to reach the final of a women's Masters final. Garcia began this week ranked 35th in the world but is now up to 23rd and can go up to 17th if winning this final. The French player would not have been expecting to get to this final when losing the first set of her opening qualifying match against compatriot Diane Parry. She fought back to win that match and then needed three sets (middle set lost) to get past Andrea Petkovic and reach the main draw. Wins have since been achieved against Petra Martic, fourth seeded Maria Sakkari (again losing the middle set), Elise Mertens, seventh seeded Jessica Pegula and in the semi-finals, a three set win over seventh seed Aryna Sabalenka. That was a tough match to win and Garcia needed medical treatment during it. Garcia is 5-3 down in previous meetings with Kvitova but the Czech has won three of their last four meetings, though this is their first match since 2019.
Now Garcia takes on Petra Kvitova who started this tournament ranked in 28th place. She's now up to 20th and will be 15th if winning this title. Kvitova has had an up and down year being as high as 17th and as low as 34th. One title has been won though with success on grass at Eastbourne. The Czech had problems in the first round of this tournament having to come from a set down to beat Jil Tiechmann. A straight sets win over Sorana Cirstea followed and then Kvitova defeated the fifth seed Ons Jabeur. The middle set was lost 6-4 but the other two won by the Czech for the loss of just one game. Qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic was beaten in straight sets in the last eight and then Kvitova came from a set down to defeat unseeded Madison Keys in the semi-final. Kvitova has won eight Masters titles in her career but the last one was four years ago in Madrid and this is her first Masters final since 2020. Kvitova has a good record against Garcia and can get the win here.
