Unseeded Pedro Martinez bids to reach the Chile Open final. He takes on the second seed Sebastian Baez in the last four of this outdoor clay court tournament. Martinez was ranked 101st when this ATP 250 event got underway. This run to the last four has taken him up to 88th and he can climb another eight places if winning this match. His live ranking is still well adrift of his career high of 40th achieved two years ago. 2022 also saw him win this title. He's beaten two seeds on his way to this semi-final. Both the sixth seed Fecundo Diaz Acosta and the third seeded Arthur Fils have both been knocked out by Martinez with both matches going to a final set. Before this tournament in Santiago, the 26-year-old had reached a hard court Challenger Tour final.

Sebastian Baez has continued his good form with this run to the last four. The Argentinian won the clay court tournament in Rio last week and before that had got to the last eight in Buenos Aires. This week has seen him win two matches and drop one set. The second round wasn't easy for him as he had to come from  a set down to get past Juan Pablo Virallas. It went smoother in his quarter final as he defeated the eighth seed Jaume Munar in straight sets. Those wins have taken him into his second successive semi-final in Santiago. He's now 22nd in the live rankings but can rise to 21st (his rankings in the last list) if beating Martinez.
