Pedro Martinez vs Matteo Arnaldi Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Hamburg Open

Sixth seed Matteo Arnaldi bids to reach the second round of the Hamburg Open. He takes on unseeded Pedro Martinez in round one of this clay court tournament. In the next round (the last 16), the winner will face either qualifier Ugo Blanchet or unseeded Alexei Popyrin.

Arnaldi had a disappointing time at Wimbledon. He led 29th seed Frances Tiafoe 2-0 in round one but then only won seven games in the next three sets. The Italian is 39th in the live rankings so needs some good results to be seeded at the upcoming US Open.

The 23-year-old now returns to clay and will hope to build on the fourth round he reached at this year's Roland Garros. He also got to the last eight in Barcelona and a Challenger Tour clay court event. This is his  first match against his opponent.

Pedro Martinez is in 49th place in the live rankings, that's nine below his career-high achieved in 2022. The Spaniard lost all three of his grass court matches this year and now returns to clay where he has a better record.

He last played on this surface at Roland Garros and lost in round two to Andrey Rublev. Arnaldi later knocked the Russian out of the tournament. Martinez has only won one of his last four clay court matches but did reach a Challenger Tour final on this surface in May. 

The month before that he made it to the final of the ATP clay court tournament held in Estoril. He followed that up with a quarter-final in Bucharest so needs to recapture that form. We go for Arnaldi to get the win here.
