We’ll have an unseeded player in the third round of the French Open. Pavel Kotov takes on Stan Wawrinka with both being outside the top 32 seeds. Kotov caused a surprise in the first round when beating the 32nd seed Cameron Norrie in five sets. He trailed by two sets to one in that match but recovered well, winning the final set 6-2. The win took Kotov to 53rd in the live rankings which is a new career high for him. This is only his third time at Roland Garros, and he’s made it into round two for the first time. He’s had some good results this year on clay and reached the semi-finals in Marrakech and the last eight in Lyon.

Stan Wawrinka beat Andy Murray in round one and said it was the best he’d played all year. The Pole is a former champion at Roland Garros but that was nine years ago. He hasn’t made it to the third round of the French Open since 2020. Wawrinka has lacked consistency this year and is yet to win two successive matches in a tournament. He may well be 38-years-old now but there's not been any talk of any imminent retirement plans. His win over Murray was only the third he’s had on the ATP Tour this year. It's taken him to 92nd in the live rankings but is still outside the top 200 in the Live Race. We tip Kotov to get the win here as he looks to be in the better form of the two.
