Paula Ormaechea vs Danielle Collins Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Hungarian Grand Prix

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

Only the top two seeds survived after the first two rounds of the Budapest Grand Prix. Second seeded Daniella Collins will be hoping to get to the final, where top seed Yulia Putintseva may or may not be waiting for her. Collins first has to win her last eight match against Paula Ormaechea, with the winner facing either Panna Udvardy or Anhelina Kalinina. Collins is the world number 49 but two years ago was as high as 23. This year began with her in 45th place and is back up to that place in the live rankings. This is a clay court tournament and that suits Collins well. Last year she got to the last eight of the French Open and reached the third round there this year, losing to Serena Williams. Another last eight appearance came in the Hamburg Open last week. So far, Collins has beaten Martina Di Giuseppe and RL Jani for the loss of only eight games.

Paula Ormaechea had to win two matches just to get into the main draw of this tournament. That's what players ranked 255th in the world have to do but she's made the most of doing so. Ormaechea was 59th in the world once but that was eight years ago. Only a few weeks ago she was down at 294th but her live ranking is up to 214th and if beating the second seed, she'll go up to 190, so it's been a big week for her. Ormaechea didn't play this year until March and her belated start began with a run to the final of an ITF tournament in Amiens, though she didn't beat any players ranked in the top 500. On the WTA circuit, she got through to the main draw of the Emilia Romagna Open, losing to Caroline Garcia. June saw another ITF final defeat. Wins this week have come against seventh seeded Viktoriya Tomova and Ivana Jorovic, both in straight sets. This is a much tougher task for her, back Collins to get the win in straight sets.

Our Paula Ormaechea vs Danielle Collins Prediction

Danielle Collins shoud be able to win this without too much trouble. She has a good record on clay and has been playing well on it this year. Her opponent is ranked well below her and spent most of 2021 beating very low ranked players on the ITF circuit. Back Collins to win this in straight sets.
