Emma Navarro will for the first time ever, play in the US Open quarter-finals after beating defending champion Cori Gauff in the fourth round. The 13th seed will will take on 26th seed Paula Badosa for a semi-final place. Heading into their second meeting this year, we have a prediction for the match.

Badosa has equalled her best-ever result at a major. Previously, the Spaniard had not won more than one main draw match at the US Open. On her return here after a two-year hiatus, Badosa has been in excellent form, winning three of four fixtures in straight sets.

Aside from winning 51 matches, she has one tour title. Her maiden tour crown was achieved on a hard-court surface in Hobart. She has also produced five more semi-final finishes including on WTA 1000 level in Toronto.

Defeating Gauff in three sets marked her second successive victory at a major this season over her fellow American. So far this year, Navarro, who has broken into the WTA top 10, has won three times against top 10 players.

The winner here will play Aryna Sabalenka, Donna Vekic or Qinwen Zheng next
