Paula Badosa’s Washington Open journey continues with a semi-final match against world number 49 Caroline Dolehide. Badosa is having quite the debut in Washington. A win against Dolehide will propel her to her first tour final in two years. The Spaniard, who had a difficult start to the year due to fitness concerns, saw off Emma Raducanu in the quarter-finals.

She battled from a set down to claim the win and improve her record to 19-13. The 26-year-old arrived in DC after a run to the fourth round at Wimbledon and has now claimed six wins in her last six fixtures. This upturn in form has moved the former world number two up to 50th place in the live ranking.

On her part, Dolehide overcame the challenge of the qualifier Amanda Anisimova in straight sets to book the last four spot. The American, who ousted second seed Daria Kasatkina in three sets in the second round, has now won her last three matches.

This is the first time she has won as many matches in the main draw at tour level this year. Dolehide, who had lost three successive fixtures before arriving in DC, has now improved her record to 13-18. She has put up a losing record on each surface but it is on hard courts where most of her wins have come.

The 25-year-old earned her maiden tour-level final appearance last season and finished as runner-up in Guadalajara. Advancing to the semis has moved her up four places in the live ranking and into 45th.
