Ashleigh Barty vs Petra Kvitová Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Mutua Madrid Open

It's been a good week so far for world number one Ashleigh Barty. The Australian faces Petra Kvitova in the quarter final of the Madrid Open. Recently her position at the top of the rankings has been under threat. However, Naomi Osaka's form has dipped and she's already out of this tournament. If Barty can win this clay court title then her lead over Osaka will be close to 3000 points. Barty has already won three titles this year, most recently winning the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. There have been some surprise losses and in Charleston, she lost on clay to Paula Badosa, who the Australian could meet in the semi-final of this tournament. Barty is a former French Open champion and her build-up to the 2021 event is going well. Barty had to go to three sets to get past qualifier Tamara Zidansek but has had impressive victories over Shelby Rogers and current French Open champion Iga Swiatek.

Petra Kvitova has seen her ranking fall this year and before this tournament was down to number 12. That's despite her having won the Qatar Total Open in March. There have been some bad defeats this year, losing to players ranked well below her. Running into Elina Svitolina in both Miami and Stuttgart hasn't helped with both matches being lost. Clay is a surface that Kvitova has enjoyed success on. A win in Madrid this week would be the fourth time she has lifted the trophy. Kvitova had straight sets win in the first two rounds of the 2021 Madrid Open but then had to go to three sets to beat Veronika Kudermetova. That's a good win as her opponent won the recent clay court tournament in Charleston. A look at the head-to-head record between these two players has the Czech 5-4  in the lead.
