Paul Jubb vs Maximilian Marterer Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mallorca Open

World number 87 Maximilian Marterer begins his Mallorca Open campaign. He takes on Paul Jubb who is down at 289th in the world rankings  The winner of this grass court match will face either unseeded Yannick Hanfmann or qualifier Adam Walton in round two. Both of these players had to qualify to get into this main draw. Marterer beat Luke Saville in straight sets but then needed to go to three to get past Abdullah Shelbayh. The German is up four places in the live rankings after those two wins in qualifying. This is his second grass court tournament of the year. The other saw him lose in the first qualifying round in Stuttgart a fortnight ago. Last year saw Marterer reach the third round at Wimbledon and won five matches before losing to Alexander Bublik. 2024 hasn't been a good year so far with only one ATP Tour main draw match won.

That was in the first round at Roland Garros but at least he's won a main draw match. His opponent Paul Jubb is still waiting for his to come along this year. He was given a wild card into this tournament and did well to qualify for the first round proper. The British player had straight sets victories over Joan Nadal and Thiago Monterio, the latter being the top seed in qualifying. Jubb is up to 276th in the live rankings. He's playing his fourth grass court tournament of the year. On the Challenger Tour, Jubb got to the last 16 and beat Alex Michelsen who's ranked higher than Marterer. That stage was also reached in Nottingham but he lost in the first qualifying round at Queen's Club. We go for Jubb to win a set in this match.
