Ugo Humbert has already won two hard court titles this year. He's up to 14th in the world rankings and seventh in the Live ATP Race. He faces American wild card Patrick Kypson in round two at Indian Wells which is an outdoor hard court Masters event. For the winner of this match their last 32 opponent will be either Tommy Paul or Alex Michelsen. Humbert has won tournaments in Marseille and Dubai this year. It was an impressive performance to win the title in Dubai with opponents beaten including Andy Murray, Gael Monfils, Hubert Hurkacz and Daniil Medvedev. He then beat Alexander Bublik in the final to win the title. The Frenchman has only once made it past the third round at Indian Wells and that was last year. This is his first match aginst Patrick Kypson.

It's been a big week for his opponent who was ranked 151st in the latest rankings. His first round win over the qualifier Ethan Quinn saw him beat his previous career high of 144th. Kypson is 136th at the time of writing this preview the day before this second round match. 2024 has already seen him win a Challenger Tour title and on the ATP Tour he made it to the last eight in Delray Beach. This is a tough task though and we go for Humbert to win in straight sets.
