Pakistan start their 2023 ODI World Cup with a match against the Netherlands, who are perhaps bracing up to surprise one or two opponents in this tournament. This is the second match of the tournament and will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday. Pakistan are the 1992 Champions and are one of the favorites to reach the semi-final stage. With crucial matches against Sri Lanka, India and Australia over the next three matches, the men in Green can't afford to start slowly. All eyes will be on Babar Azam, Pakistan's captain and probably one of the best batsmen in this format in World Cricket. With the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf manning their pace department, there's so much firepower in the Pakistani bowling ranks.

The Netherlands qualified for this tournament through the ICC qualifiers where they overcame the likes of West Indies. While not many gave the Associate Nation too much of a chance to qualify, they managed to surprise a few. The warm-ups didn't go to their plan though, as the Dutch could only see 23 overs in the match against Australia while that against India was abandoned without toss. History suggests they have struggled against Pakistan, having lost all six previous matches, and they are unlikely to have their hopes up. If anything, the Dutch will hope to put up a fight and push Pakistan harder in their quest to earn some pride.
