Pakistan vs India Prediction & Betting Tips - ICC Champions Trophy
by Ian John | in ICC Champions Trophy Predictions
The ICC Champions Trophy group stage gets red hot on Sunday as the Men in Green face the Men in Blue in a rare clash of two cricketing super-powers of the subcontinent. Holders, Pakistan, face India in what will likely be an explosive encounter, especially with Pakistan requiring a win after their opening game loss to New Zealand. Here’s our match prediction on this huge game!
India and Pakistan have clashed 135 times in One Day Internationals, and it is India that holds the advantage, having won 73 of those games, with 57 wins for Pakistan and five contests having no result.
Both teams come into this game in very different form. Pakistan on the back of four defeats in their last five One Day games. In contrast, India have won all of their last six and eight of their last nine One Day internationals.
The top two teams in Group A will progress onto the semi-finals, where they will face one of the top two teams competing in Group B for a spot in the final.

Pakistan - India: Form Analysis
Currently, Pakistan sits at the bottom of Group A after their 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the tournament's opening match.
That defeat was their fourth successive One Day defeat and puts the current holders in real danger of elimination from the tournament after two games.
Their recent one-day cricket record against India is also poor.
Pakistan has lost five of the last six ODIs against India.
India sits second in the Group A table behind New Zealand, but with two points in the bag after beating Bangladesh by six wickets in their opening match of the competition.
India’s bowling attack struggled a little against Bangladesh, but the qualify of their batting lineup, particularly in the shape of Shubman Gill, who hit an unbeaten century, saw them through.
A win for India, paired with a win for New Zealand against Bangladesh, would see both teams confirm their place in the semi-finals with one group game remaining. It would also ensure both Pakistan and Bangladesh were eliminated from the tournament.

Pakistan & India Squad Analysis
The big news on the injury front for the game is that Pakistan’s talented batsman Fakhar Zaman will not play. Zaman, who was hurt while fielding in the opening game against New Zealand, has now been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with a knee injury.
Imam-ul-Haq replaces Zaman in the Pakistan squad.
Zaman’s absence could see Saud Shakeel step up as opener as he did against New Zealand when Zaman could not open the batting. Otherwise, ul-Haq could directly replace Zaman as one of the opener’s against India on Sunday.
India suffered an injury blow before the tournament started when their superstar bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out with a back injury.
Spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who impressed against England recently, will be key for India’s attack in Bumrah’s absence.
India’s formidable battling line-up remains with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and the in-form Shubman Gill likely to give India a strong foundation to build on with the bat in hand.

Our Pakistan vs India Prediction
Our prediction for the Pakistan vs. India ICC Champions Trophy match is: India wins the match.
These two fierce rivals rarely share a cricket pitch together nowadays, but when they have it has been India that has been utterly dominant, especially in One Day games. Pakistan must win this game to keep alive their hopes of defending the trophy, but the form India showed against Bangladesh, particularly with the bat, suggests that Pakistan may find this one too difficult, especially on neutral territory in Dubai.
