Pablo Carreño-Busta vs Matteo Berrettini Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Australian Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Seventh seeded Matteo Berrettini continues to be a consistent player in Grand Slam events. He's reached two quarter finals and the Wimbledon final in his last three events. Not since the 2020 French Open has he failed to make it to the fourth round. He takes on 19th seeded Pablo Carreno Busta in the fourth round of the Australian Open. The winner faces either Gael Monfils or Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarter final. Berrettini reached this stage in Melbourne last year but had to withdraw due to injury. He only played in one warm-up tournament this year, representing Italy in the ATP Cup, losing two of this three matches but did take Daniil Medvedev to a third set. To reach the fourth round, Berrettini has had wins over Brandon Nakashima in four sets (losing the first), Stefan Kozlov (again in four) and then rising star 31st seed Carlos Alcarez. He won the first two sets in that match, lost the next two and won the final set 7-5, so he's certainly had a lot of time on the court this week.
Pablo Carreno Busta is bidding to reach his fifth Grand Slam quarter final. The other four have been in Paris and New York, but this is the third time he's made the fourth round in Australia. It's a welcome return to form in Grand Slams after losing in the first round of his last two. He also only played one warm-up event, again it being the ATP Cup. He was part of the Spanish team that lost to Canada in the final. Busta won four out of five matches, only losing to Denis Shapovalov in the final. Three of his wins were against players ranked outside the top 100. Busta has also had to battle hard to make it to the fourth round of this tournament. He had to go to five sets against Tallon Griekspoor and four against Sebastian Korda. Another tough match lies ahead here and it's Berrettini who can get the win, probably in four sets.
